“I am waiting for the convocation of a sovereign national dialogue that was approved at the meeting where the government of Mexico, Uruguay, Bolivia and the 14 Caribbean governments were, I am at disposal of the Montevideo Mechanism to come with constructive proposals, to seek peace and harmony in Venezuela”, said the president.
From the Bolívar state, in the south of the country, the head of State stressed that dialogue should be the way to resolve political controversies and find possible solutions to the current situation of the republic.
“The coup failed and they will not be able to deal with Venezuela, so the only way is dialogue, understanding, and respect”, he added, referring to the coup plan orchestrated in Washington and to which several Latin American governments and the European Union were attached.
Cooperation with the UN
During his speech, President Maduro referred to the economic-financial blockade imposed by the United States government on Venezuela and the supposed “humanitarian aid” (upon which a media campaign has been spun).
“Now they have the tale of humanitarian aid; they freeze us and rob us 30 billion dollars abroad and offer the ultra right 20 million dollars in a rotten meal, that’s the truth”, he said.
In this context, he reported that the United Nations (UN) has expressed its willingness to cooperate with the South American country, in the sense to contribute to the acquisition of food and medicine to which, as a result of the blockade and unilateral coercive measures, the Venezuelan State have not access.

Guaidó’s self-proclamation as Venezuelan president is the most ridiculous and dangerous coup attempt in recent years. With the shameless backing of Washington, the Venezuelan rightwing intends to place a complete stranger at the helm of the state.
This time around, the starting signal was neither a terrorist attack nor an assassination attempt directed against Maduro. Trump has chosen a group of conspiracy experts (Abrams, Pence, Bolton, Rubio) to pursue escalation and has opted to seize the Venezuelan oil enterprise operating in the United States (CITGO). He has brushed aside all principles of legal guarantee in his quest to appropriate the world’s largest concentration of crude oil reserves.
