Tulsi Gabbard

I’m predicting a 2024 VP run, with either Trump or RFK Jr.

“People always were and always will be the stupid victims of deceit and self-deceit in politics until they learn to discover the interests of some class or other behind all moral, religious, political and social phrases, declarations, and promises…until they realize that every old institution, however barbarous and rotten it may appear to be, is maintained by the forces of some ruling classes.”

[2022] There’s Something About Tulsi

[2021] TULSI GABBARD SIMPS WILL BURN IN HELL + War on Terror Moves to Africa

…The reason I’m even writing about this is because I’m also trying to understand why I, myself, am so triggered by the abysmal and sycophantic behavior I have witnessed from the supporters of the former Hawaii congresswoman, Tulsi Gabbard. Especially, since her recent comments regarding her time at an undisclosed location in Africa, as an officer of the Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command — assisting Special Ops fight “islamist jihadist terrorists” associated with Al-Qaeda…

…Tulsi told Tucker that she supports targeted airstrikes when he asked her about the seven children and three civilians who were recently killed by a “targeted airstrike” in Kabul. AFRICOM uses this method in Somalia on a regular basis….

…It’s what she said in her recent appearance on Tucker Carlson’s show — that airstrikes are necessary to quell the “jihadist insurgency” in African countries and parts of the Middle East. Tucker, by the way, was just asserting that Biden wants open borders because of his desire to “replace the legacy American stock” with “unvetted and obedient people from the third world” in order to destroy America. I have zero love for Biden because he has proven, throughout his entire career, to be nothing more than an establishment lackey, but Tucker’s rhetoric is quite interesting. He is adding fuel to the fire in the identity politics and culture war he claims to oppose. Yet, I hear some people claim that Tucker is anti-war because he “tells the truth about Syria” and supports Assange — he must be better than Rachel Maddow, right? No! Both Maddow and Carlson are equally garbage (in my opinion).

[2020] Tulsi Gabbard Didn’t Sell Out. She Was Already a Member of the War Party

Still, this is only part of the explanation. Gabbard could have followed Elizabeth Warren and decided not to endorse anyone. There were many of us on the left who believed Gabbard to be more principled than Warren and thus made the conscious decision of limiting public critique of her 2020 campaign. While Gabbard certainly didn’t check all the boxes of what constitutes an anti-war platform, she did raise the important issue of Washington’s New Cold War policy toward Russia and China. She also opposed the U.S.’ ongoing war in Syria. Journalists and activists such as Abby Martin were openly critical of Gabbard throughout her 2020 campaign. The Hawaiian Congresswoman said little to nothing in defense of Palestine and valorized the military in troubling ways. Gabbard also legitimized the War on Terror’s so-called mission of eliminating “radical Islamic terrorism” even as she rightly condemned ISIS and Al Qaeda as a creation of dictatorial regimes such as Saudi Arabia. Her approach to foreign policy exposed contradictions that help us understand a bit better why she would take the seemingly illogical action of endorsing Joe Biden in this period of crisis.

The United States is the land of individualism and celebrity, so it is far easier to scrutinize Gabbard’s politics than to provide a broader explanation for her endorsement of Biden. However, any valid explanation for Gabbard’s endorsement must weigh the internal and external conditions together. Gabbard was a member of the War Party from the outset. Her voting record on issues of war and peace is not consistent. Gabbard has voted in favor of 19 of the last 29 military spending bills including proposals to renovate and update the U.S.’ massive nuclear weapons arsenal. She also voted in favor of sanctions against Iran, Russia, and the DPRK in 2017. Tulsi Gabbard has never sought to transcend the engine of war or try to destroy. Instead, she worked within it and believed that her leadership could steer her enemies on the right path.

“The war to overthrow Assad is counter-productive because it actually helps ISIS and other Islamic extremists achieve their goal of overthrowing the Syrian government of Assad and taking control of all of Syria – which will simply increase human suffering in the region, exacerbate the refugee crisis, and pose a greater threat to the world,” she continued. “Also, the war to overthrow Assad is illegal because Congress never authorized it.”

In 2016, Gabbard said, “There is no doubt that Assad is a brutal dictator, but common sense tells us that if we want to defeat ISIS and other Islamist extremist groups, we need to immediately end the illegal and counterproductive war to overthrow the Syrian government of Assad.”

The stories highlight Gabbard’s criticism of the Obama administration over its plans to defeat ISIS, including the president’s convening of a White House summit on violent extremism, an event Gabbard described on Fox News as a “diversion from what our real focus needs to be.”

Other Breitbart stories on Gabbard note her full-throated support for Israel, her support for the Kurds and her backing of a bill that would make it all but impossible to admit Syrian refugees into the U.S.

At a time when the Syrian government and Syrian Democratic Forces were struggling to reach a peace deal in Damascus, Democratic Representative Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii has invited Ilham Ahmed, co-president of the latter’s political wing, to Washington to attend the annual address set to be delivered Tuesday by President Donald Trump. Gabbard made the announcement via her official Twitter account hours before the speech was scheduled to begin.
