A recent bombing in southwest Pakistan targeted the Chinese ambassador. The suspects are militant groups long backed by the US to target Chinese infrastructure projects in the region – and mirror similar violence and subversion sponsored by the US to target Chinese economic activity across Eurasia.
Washington employs sanctions, propaganda, and political subversion (including violent subversion) to encircle and contain China – as well as target its One Belt, One Road project around the globe.
In Pakistan, China’s infrastructure projects have for years been targeted by US-backed separatists who ultimately seek to create an “independent country” and expel China’s presence from the region. US support includes throughout the media, National Endowment for Democracy (NED) funding for political groups promoting separatism, as well as US legislation openly promoting separatism in southwest Pakistan.
