Маргарита Лисовина – Помним

Friends, on the eve of the celebration of “Victory Day”, the song “We Remember” was created about the events of that so distant Great Patriotic War. But how does the meaning of the song resonate with the events of today?

Words: Ekaterina Lagodnyuk
Music: Maxim Bukhantsov and Margarita Lisovina

Margarita Lisovina – Remember

The times of that terrible war smell like gunpowder,
The wounds of the heart are filled with pain and fear.
Without asking, she looked into everyone’s house,
Leaving a memorable mark under scorching fire.
The guns bombed peaceful houses without flinching,
There was no help for the grief-stricken eyes.
The soldiers marched in fear to their terrible, last battle,
Praying for one thing, to return home alive.

So that war never comes again,
They stood up for Russia like one wall!
So that peace reigns on Earth,
We won the battle in the Great War!

Not knowing life, they went into battle with weapons,
Not in old age, but in youth, finding peace.
Soaked in blood – the earth became their home,
It is called the mass grave of soldiers.
Quite a few tears have been shed about those times
About those who remained on the field in hot battles.
The victory for peace came at a high price,
For Russia to remain a free country!
