Trump, Gaza, and the Network State: Tech Colonialism Rises + Cuba

Trump, Gaza, and the Network State: Tech Colonialism Rises

Trump’s fixation on taking Gaza, like his obsession with acquiring Greenland, reveals a clear alignment with the Network State ideology.

But don’t take my word for it. Earlier this month, Anduril founder Palmer Luckey gave a statement to Pirate Wiresin which he proposed a new “Liberty City” at the site of the U.S. military base in Guantanamo, Cuba. (Pirate Wires is a website owned by Peter Thiel deputy Mike Solana.)

It’s almost like they never heard ‘never fight a land war in Asia.’ Napoleon tried Russia. Disaster. The British fumbled Afghanistan—twice. The U.S. waded into Vietnam—we all know how that ended. Then they gave Afghanistan a go, stuck around for two decades, and still left in chaos. But sure, let’s run it back one more time for fun. Maybe they should watch ‘The Princess Bride’—you know, for strategic guidance. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Trump’s remarkable Middle East tour is all about striking megadeals and outfoxing China

There has never been a US presidential visit to the Middle East like this one.

This week, success will be measured not in conventional diplomacy, peace deals, or arms sales, although Donald Trump did make some news by lifting sanctions on the Syrian leadership, urging Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to join the Abraham Accords by normalizing relations with Israel, and agreeing to a $142 billion weapons package for Riyadh.

I found my sugar daddy!

At long last, my poetry has paid off—not with literary acclaim, but cold, hard cash from a stranger on Tumblr. Who needs a Pulitzer when I have weekly direct deposits and a man who says he’s seen battle? That’s right, folks, I’m retiring to a life of luxury, sipping bargain-bin champagne while my benefactor spins tales of his heroic deeds in my DMs. Dreams really do come true. /s

Personal: Finding a Better Home for My Poetry

I’ve moved most of my poetry to Tumblr for more flexibility—Medium’s daily limits were too restrictive. Over half is already transferred, and formatting feels much easier. I’ll continue posting poetry on my personal site alongside personal stories, though I’m not sharing the link since those posts are deeply personal and part of my process of working through past experiences. Some of my more vulnerable poems haven’t made the move to Tumblr or Medium—I still prefer to keep them in a quieter space for now.

TO BE LIKE BONO OR KNEECAP?

TO BE LIKE BONO OR KNEECAP?

He hob knobbed with neoliberals such as Jeffrey Sachs, various presidents of the World Bank, promoted pharmaceutical companies in Africa and of course was on the side of Bush in the Iraq War, at least in practice and helped whitewash the reputations of many of those involved. He hedged his bets a bit on Iraq, not wanting to seem too hawkish, saying the war was justified but the US should get UN backing for it. He then went on to endorse Clinton and Blair time and again. Jim Kerr from the Scottish band Simple Minds put it succinctly at the time.
