Gimenez: The Tweets and the Foreign Lobbying Firm

Brian Berletic:

US Authorizes CIA Violence in Venezuela, Then Blames Venezuela For It…

The US already openly announced the CIA is conducting operations inside Venezuela, then says “Venezuela” is doing it to themselves to blame the US or its terrorist proxies inside Venezuela…

The NYT had reported:

“The new authority would allow the C.l.A. to carry out lethal operations in Venezuela and conduct a range of operations in the Caribbean.

The agency would be able to take covert action against Mr. Maduro or his government either unilaterally or in conjunction with a larger military operation. It is not known whether the C.I.A. is planning any specific operations in Venezuela.”

Of course – US military operations typically seek to cripple a targeted nation’s infrastructure including power, communications, transportation, as well as military and economic targets – exactly what the US gov is now claiming Venezuela will attack “themselves.”

-= Some Don’t Care About the Truth =-

Unfortunately many will continue supporting US aggression against Venezuela because they voted for a personality cult, not principles or actual policies…

-= What Can You Do? =-

Keep exposing the lies, the flaws in official narratives, point out the hypocrisy of the Trump administration’s promises vs. picking up where Bush, Obama, and Biden left off, and point out how before Americans were told “Venezuela” was single-handedly poisoning Americans, most Americans would have more likely associated their decades-spanning drug crisis with the CIA itself.

The US gov and the interests driving its policy are trying to manufacture consent – we must pose opposition to it.

Nation-states across the multipolar world have things they can do – this is what we as ordinary people can do.

Brian retweeted the following from Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez:

BREAKING -> We are tracking reports that the Maduro narco-regime may be preparing to sabotage key Venezuelan infrastructure, including major bridges, tunnels, and refineries, and later blame the United States or the democratic opposition.

While unverified, these claims match the desperate tactics of a collapsing dictatorship.

The United States will continue to stand firmly with the Venezuelan people against tyranny, corruption, and any attempt by the regime to manufacture chaos or manipulate the truth for political survival.

Representative Gimenez’s June 30, 2025, tweet on Guyana–Venezuela relations amplified the specific talking points of Continental Strategy, the registered foreign agent for the Government of Guyana. The firm’s partner, John Barsa—a former USAID administrator during the Trump administration—sent the draft content directly to the Congressman’s office, illustrating a direct translation of foreign policy lobbying into a congressional public statement.

This use of lobbyist-provided messaging is indicative of a broader, established relationship between Congressman Gimenez and the adjectives of Continental Strategy. Given the firm’s known involvement in shaping his re-election campaign and communications strategy, the Congressman’s office routinely coordinates its public stance with the firm’s strategic objectives.

Representative Gimenez is well-positioned to influence the United States’ response to the Guyana-Venezuela territorial dispute because he serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Homeland Security Committee (where he chairs the Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security), and the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party.

His roles allow him to focus on the conflict’s security, military, and maritime implications, all of which are critical components of US policy response.

Continental Strategy also emailed Senator John Cornyn. Cornyn is also uniquely positioned to influence the United States’ response to the Guyana-Venezuela territorial dispute because he serves on the Foreign Relations, Intelligence, and Finance Committees.

This is not only about a territorial dispute; it is also about China. China has established Venezuela as its primary “All-Weather Strategic Partner” in South America, formalized through hundreds of agreements spanning defense, technology, and energy. China Concord Resources Corp (CCRC) has already deployed a floating oil platform in Lake Maracaibo—a $1 billion project intended to boost output from 12,000 to 60,000 barrels per day (bpd) by the end of 2026—and revived production at PDVSA fields. Simultaneously, traders are rebranding over $1 billion worth of Venezuelan crude as Brazilian to bypass sanctions and maintain flows to Chinese refiners. This robust economic lifeline for Caracas directly counteracts U.S. sanctions pressure, as the nation’s number one oil customer is Beijing.

The link between the Congressman’s June 30th tweet and the FARA registration was initially noted by: Mi Mapa de Venezuela incluye nuestro Esequibo (My Map of Venezuela Includes Our Essequibo).
