The U.S. AN/TPS-80 Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar has become operational at A.N.R. Robinson International Airport in Crown Point, Tobago.

The radar was transported to the airport via U.S. military aircraft, including a C-17A Globemaster III from Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, arriving on or around November 26.

The AN/TPS-80 G/ATOR is a U.S. Marine Corps multi-role radar system designed for tasks including air traffic control, air and missile defense, and fire control.

It is capable of tracking a variety of airborne threats, such as cruise missiles, manned aircraft, and drones, and can also determine the source of hostile fire.
