Democracies, Demo-cracias, Corporatocracies, and Demonocracy

I usually use the translate feature on my iPhone for reading, but for this repost, I’ve used Google Translate. While some nuance may be lost, I hope the “gist” remains clear. I haven’t parsed every linked source yet, but I find myself in deep agreement with Gustavo Horta’s critique of “Demo-cracias.”

I used to call this system “Demonocracy.” It is a fitting term for a predatory global architecture that masks a corporate-owned plutocracy behind a democratic facade. One only needs to look at U.S. foreign policy over the last few decades to see a terrorist state in action, utilizing a “divide and conquer” strategy both abroad and within its own borders. By “national” interests, the government consistently means the interests of the oligarchs and corporations that own them. Whether they are Democrats, Republicans, or even “progressives,” they have all been bought out.

This capture predates Citizens United and the Powell Memo. As Michael Parenti noted in Democracy for the Few, even the New Deal was less about social reform and more about Roosevelt saving capitalism—a “prime dedication to business recovery.” Whether you call it neoliberalism, corporatocracy, or Demonocracy, the goal remains the same: the preservation of the ruling class.

As for a solution, I believe only socialism can save us. However, decades of Cold War propaganda have left the public unable to even define the term. Between the CIA and the oligarch-controlled media, we see both the “New Left” and “New Right” acting as ideological distractions—misdirecting the masses as part of the very social conditioning I’ve been trying to expose. Ultimately, I believe only a Soviet Union-style collapse will stop the terrorist state of the United States. It won’t be pretty for those of us living in the heart of the empire, but it may be the only way the machine finally stops.

Democracies, demo-cracies, corporatocracies [original published in July 2024]

Today, in February 2026, I add: [We are currently living through the horrifying whirlwind of Jeffrey Epstein’s files, obtained to be instruments of power for the large corporations of the international financial system, for the power of ‘big tech’, to destroy the power of democracies, converting them into corporatocracies through the manipulation of the highest echelons. In all spheres, from influencers, rulers of the executive, legislative and judicial branches, celebrities in general…]

These files (three million in the first release, overwhelming enough to cause turmoil) are selective. US agencies are only releasing what is in the interest of the terrorist state that is the US state.

I have said, and been heavily criticized and bombarded for it, that the USA = TERRORIST STATE.

It is clear that the brutality, indecency, wickedness, cretinism, and disgust of what is lavishly distributed there requires maximum and imprescriptible punishments for those who participated in this cruel and horrifying orgy. Clearly, maximum punishment for these evil scoundrels, demons, in the fullest sense of the word.

BUT BEWARE, THERE ARE MANY MORE THINGS PLOTTED WITH REAL INTENTIONS: BLACKMAIL AND POWER.

The rotten Western world, as I have already posited years ago, has been distracted, attracted, betrayed, subtracted from, and destroyed by mega-corporations, in this determined construction of multinational corporatocracies. (This mechanism is already being studied. It is agnotology.
“… an uncomfortable mechanism called agnotology. Agnotology is the study of the deliberate production of ignorance. Not of honest error. Not of legitimate doubt. But of ignorance constructed with method, money, strategy, and historical patience. …”)

For those who preach democracy around the world, with missionaries armed to the teeth, the failed assassination attempt against Trump, as well as the continued presence in the public sphere of the pathetic figure of Biden, clearly reveal all the toxic hypocrisy of those who do not respect, at home, the good practices imposed on outsiders with bayonets. Hypocrisy, even when democracy is used as a shield to fuel the genocidal hell of friends, as is happening in Gaza. Without a drop of critical spirit, devoid of the ability to look in the mirror without breaking it, the protagonists of the American tragedy play their roles, without caring about the sad image projected to the rest of the world.

But what is the USA today? Born from an eighteenth-century idea of freedom, both original and vigorous, it managed to establish it in the first modern Constitution. It was on the desks of French constitutionalists from 1789-1791, and has been a model for many fundamental laws of many other countries throughout the centuries.

The original political freedom of the USA breathes a spirit of independence, of communities and individuals, against any external tutelage (two wars against the British Empire). It is a republican, representative freedom that invented the first federalism where citizens also count. But this liberal freedom (the pleonasm is only apparent) has a powerful antagonist. Weak at the beginning, but which gained strength with the growth of technology and markets. Economic freedom. It is not only more indomitable and unrestricted than political freedom, but it also has the capacity to control and, eventually, destroy it.

American economic freedom is illiberal. It has no constitutional limits, and even fewer ethical ones. It produces billionaires who carry senators and presidential candidates in their pockets, like hunting trophies. In the battlefield of the market, there is no Geneva Convention , nor are prisoners taken. The concentration of wealth is now obscene. Inequality reigns supreme. Every American city turns a blind eye to its millions of homeless ( losers ), poor, and sick.

In 1970, the Gini coefficient (which measures inequality, with higher values indicating greater inequality) in the US was 0.39; today it is 0.49. Comparatively, Portugal has 0.35 and Russia has 0.36.

The federal government (there will be exceptions at the municipal and state levels) is today a plutocratic institution, a “billionaire democracy” (to quote the title of a 2018 book by George R. Tyler). Therefore, Trump will be president of the USA again. The money of billionaires, starting with Elon Musk, pours from Biden into his campaign. Like the charisma of the twilight god of democracy.

Democracy is something invented to facilitate the manipulation of the people, who are deluded into believing they can choose their representatives.

Tanto faz, como tanto fez: https://gustavohorta.wordpress.com/2024/07/03/tanto-faz/

This never happened.
It didn’t happen when only a few could vote.
It didn’t happen when only men could vote.
It didn’t happen when only the wealthy bourgeoisie and landowners could vote.
It didn’t happen when only the literate could vote.
And it doesn’t happen when financial and economic power is the manipulating agent of the idiotized population, so manipulated.
They, the powerful, distract us, attract us, betray us, subtract from us, and destroy us.
We are all permanently exposed, humiliated, humiliated, and ripped apart.
And the politicians, in every branch of government, as well as the public servants in so many institutions equally belonging to the people, are subservient or co-opted/corrupted by the capitalists and the wealthy and powerful bourgeoisie.
There is no independence in any of the branches of government.
Large corporations dominate power.
Worldwide.
Nothing differentiates them. All puppets obeying the dictates of the puppeteers who control them.
Democracies, demo-cracies, corporatocracies.
A load of crap, a sea of stinking cesspools overflowing the world. A lot of crap.
Worse every day.
And getting worse!
