Far-Right Intellectuals Are Offering Workers a Rotten Deal
Far-right intellectuals like Steve Bannon claim to speak for a working class put upon by out-of-touch liberal elites. But their anti-modernist, hierarchical vision of the world doesn’t offer workers what they really need: more money in their pockets, and more power at the workplace.

Peruvian socialist Pedro Castillo pulls ahead in election as further hurdles await
Those familiar with leftism in Latin America will remain wary even if Castillo is declared the official winner. The coup against Bolivia’s MAS is fresh in American’s memory, and former leftist Brazilian president Lula has only just been released from prison following the reversal of false charges. It’s been proven true that all over the world when countries try to exercise autonomy and shake the chains of capital they are often met with both overt and covert retaliation from the national establishment as well as the US empire. If, as is looking increasingly likely, Castillo does come out with the ballot box victory, more challenges will inevitably lie ahead.

Birds of a Fascist Feather: Why Israel Is Aiding Colombia’s Crackdown on Protesters
BOGATA — For exactly one month now, a nationwide strike has crippled Colombia and has been met with deadly repression by the far-right government of Ivan Duque. As trade unions have shut down major cities, halting mass transit and bringing economic gridlock to the country, government forces have responded with violence. According to government figures, at least 44 people have been killed in protests that began on April 28. A further 500 people have been “disappeared,” more than 100 shot with live fire, and at least 28 have been wounded in the eye by police, the notorious ESMAD riot squad, or by paramilitary organizations linked to the state.
