DOJ quietly removes study showing right wing attacks ‘outpace’ those by left

The Justice Department quietly removed from its website a study showing far-right extremists were responsible for the bulk of ideologically motivated deaths — a move that comes as the GOP seeks to back claims from President Trump that the “radical left” poses a greater danger than the right wing.

Selective Free Speech: Censorship, Hypocrisy, and the Politics of Control

Full video. Timestamp: 4:50.

Marx’s insight—”The ruling ideas of each age have ever been the ideas of its ruling class”—perfectly captures the hypocrisy of free speech under the Trump administration. While they denounced censorship when the Biden administration silenced voices questioning pandemic policies, they now weaponize state power against those protesting the war in Gaza. This contradiction reveals that their defense of free speech is not based on principle but on political utility—protecting narratives that serve their interests while suppressing dissent that threatens their agenda. By framing pandemic skepticism as truth-seeking while branding anti-war activism as dangerous, they manipulate public discourse to maintain control rather than uphold genuine democratic values. This selective enforcement isn’t new; it’s a recurring pattern in power structures, where the ruling class dictates which ideas are legitimate and which must be silenced.

Veteran suicides stayed at same level in 2022, despite efforts to reduce deaths

At the same time, a number of contributing negative factors also rose in 2022. Stressors from the previous two years, including financial troubles and anxiety tied to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent economic fallout of it, continued. Over the course of the year, veteran homelessness increased by 7.4% according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s January 2023 point-in-time count (data for 2024 has not been released yet). The VA found that among those who recently sought care through the Veterans Health Administration, the suicide rate for homeless veterans was 110.2% higher than housed vets.

15-Year-Old Girl Identified as the Shooter in a Wisconsin School

Abundant Life often served as a kind of refuge for children who had been bullied or struggled at other schools, because the staff were quick to put a stop to cruelty, said Rebekah Smith, 50, whose teenage daughter was in a physics class down the hall from where the shooting occurred.

Ms. Smith said that members of the school community believed that the shooter was new to the private school this year and was among those who came in need of a life change. The school’s student population has grown dramatically since the pandemic, she said.

Leaks expose secret British military cell plotting to ‘keep Ukraine fighting’

Leaked files show top UK military figures conspired to carry out the Kerch bridge bombing, covertly train “Gladio”-style stay-behind forces in Ukraine, and groom the British public for a drop in living standards caused by the proxy war against Russia.

Project Alchemy’s proposed schemes spanned every conceivable field of warfare, from cyber attacks to “discreet operations” to outright terrorism. The secret cell even put forward a plan to “aggressively pursue” and “dismantle” independent media outlets – including The Grayzone – through an aggressive campaign of legal harassment and online censorship, so they “would be forced to close.” The incendiary blueprints were fed to the highest levels of the British state and national security structure, where they were apparently well-received.

A Return to Leftist Self-Defense

Communities targeted by escalating right-wing violence are learning from their own histories how to keep each other safe.

“In moments where I have seen [community defense], it’s always been something that has been asked for explicitly,” says Snow. [Yellow Peril Tactical] YPT formed in 2020 amid a slew of anti-Asian hate crimes. Organizers from around the U.S. met through activist networks and began supporting each other not just in learning self-defense and firearms skills but also in creating more visible networks of care and connecting their ideas about community empowerment to international struggles such as supporting anarchists fighting Russian aggression in Ukraine.

Wisconsin Army National Guard Reaches Recruitment Target For First Time In 7 Years

By focusing on personalized mentorship, creating flexible opportunities for service members and developing a stronger and more integrated marketing campaign, the recruiting team has engaged a wider range of recruits. This increased messaging and flexibility helped them to accommodate recruits with childcare, career, and educational opportunities, ensuring that enlistment remained a viable option for diverse individuals.

LTC Hellenbrand adds, “It’s about showing potential recruits how military service can fit into their lives while providing opportunities for growth and stability.”

Despite these obstacles, leadership, culture and vision played a vital role in the successful recruitment campaign, a feat that had eluded the Wisconsin Army National Guard for nearly a decade.

“The environment is just so much more challenging for us to get into the hearts and minds of Wisconsin citizens,” said Hellenbrand. “The propensity to serve or the interest or likelihood that a person will ever learn about the military or approach service is at an all-time low.”

Further, psyops units carry none of the glamour associated with elite SEAL and Green Beret units. Indeed, if anything, psyops is associated in the public mind with the largely unsuccessful effort to “win hearts and minds” in Vietnam.
