Hezbollah: Flying drones to Karish gas field conveyed message to Israel

Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah says its recent flying of three unarmed drones toward the Karish gas field was aimed to warn Israel not to conduct any extraction operation prior to resolving a long-standing maritime border dispute between Beirut and the regime in Tel Aviv.

Meanwhile, Israel, Egypt, and the European Union are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding on increasing gas exports, though it is difficult to see what immediate practical effect this will have. Israel’s Ministry of Energy will also open another round of bidding for licenses to explore in its EEZ. The degree of interest shown in this round will indicate how international energy companies currently regard the attractiveness of Israeli prospects.

Canada to spend billions on NORAD so US can rule world

The Liberals are intent on funneling ever more of our collective resources to bolster the US Empire, spending lavishly to “modernize” Canada’s chief bi-national military accord.

On Monday Defence Minister Anita Anand announced the government would spend $4.9 billion to upgrade the North American Aerospace Defense Command. The federal government said it will devote $40 billion to NORAD over 20 years, but it may be far more than that noted David Pugliese in a story headlined: “Cost to modernize NORAD set at $40 billion, but will final tally be higher?”

Ukraine – The U.S. Is Moving Towards Escalation

The Pentagon is not ready for a war on China. Iran is too strong and would respond to an attack by launching its huge missile arsenal on Israel and U.S. allies in the Gulf. This leaves Syria*. It is unlikely by chance that the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that the U.S. is coordinating Israeli airstrikes in that country:

The story of when Israel attacked America, and the US government sided with Tel Aviv

On June 8, 1967, Israel attacked an American intelligence ship named the USS Liberty. The incident left two-thirds of the ship’s crew dead or injured, in an intentional assault by the Israeli military, yet the US government’s response was to move on and become closer with Tel Aviv. It could be argued that this set a precedent for Israel to kill US citizens with impunity.

Interestingly, the inclusion of Kenya, Liberia, Morocco and Tunisia may be less about Russia and more about combating China’s growing influence on the continent, said Elizabeth Shackelford, a former State Department official who served in several East African countries.

“China has been a strategic partner to both Kenya and Liberia, but the US still holds greater sway in each. Kenya is an influential country on the continent, so getting it on board with the west is important,” said Shackelford, now with the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.

“Inviting these countries to this meeting signals that their position on [Ukraine] matters, to the US and to the broader coalition,” including host Germany, a major economic power, she added. “This is a level of engagement that China’s transactional relationship doesn’t offer. Don’t forget, it’s an election year in Kenya. International engagement on major global issues at the invitation of the US is a good look.”

Israel, Biden and the 2022 midterms

Israel, Biden and the 2022 midterms

The wear and tear suffered by Biden after the fiasco in Afghanistan, runaway inflation and the possible entry into recession of the economy next year after the war in Ukraine, could lead to the Republican victory in the midterm elections of 2022 that would anticipate a triumphant return of Trump in the 2024 Presidential elections and what would be a paradigm of the recent Republican victory in the State of Virginia. Thus, after the fiascoes in Syria, Libya and Iraq, Iran would be the new bait for the Anglo-Jewish plan of the Machiavellian Plan outlined by the Anglo-Jewish Alliance in 1960 to attract both Russia and China and provoke a great regional conflict that will mark future of the area in the coming years and that it would be a new local episode that would be framed in the return to the recurring endemism of the US-Russia Cold War. This conflict could involve the three superpowers (USA, China and Russia) counting as necessary collaborations the regional powers (Israel, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Iran), covering the geographical space that extends from the Mediterranean arc (Libya, Syria and Lebanon) to Yemen and Somalia, with Iraq as the epicenter and recalling the Vietnam War with Lindon B. Johnson (1963-1969).
