China’s hybrid “state capitalist” system, driven by centralized planning and fierce competition, has led to dominance in critical technological fields and emerging markets. Western multinational corporations are advised to adopt a pragmatic approach to capitalize on four key strengths of China’s economy: its innovation ecosystem, its investment in the Global South, its ultra-competitive markets, and its vast consumer base. Those who fail to engage risk losing global revenue and strategic opportunities.

Breno Altman: ‘The Relationship Between Lula and Chavismo Has Always Been One of Alliance and Divergence’
Breno Altman: The proposal is to call new elections or to set up a cohabitation government that would lead to new elections. These two proposals are not exactly new, and have been circulating for days in the dialogues between the Brazilian and Colombian governments and also in the consultations that the Brazilian government has held with the European Union and the United States.
It’s not surprising that Brazil and Colombia are trying to mediate between the opposition and Chavismo, between the United States and the European Union, on the one hand, with China and Russia on the other. This posture of mediation implies an unbridled search for a solution that could be accepted by both parties.

BA: I believe that the Lula government and President Lula are concerned about the Brazilian municipal elections scheduled for October. And he believes that defending the Maduro government will take votes away from the PT and its allied parties, especially in the big capitals, particularly in São Paulo.

The Electoral Chamber of Venezuela’s Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) validated the results issued by the National Electoral Council (CNE), which declared President Nicolás Maduro the winner of the presidential elections held on July 28. The decision is contained in a ruling that was read at the TSJ headquarters in Caracas in the presence of the diplomatic corps and Venezuelan officials.

Dear compañero,
Though belatedly, I am completing these notes in the course of my trip through Africa, hoping in this way to keep my promise. I would like to do so by dealing with the theme set forth in the title above. I think it may be of interest to Uruguayan readers.
A common argument from the mouths of capitalist spokespeople, in the ideological struggle against socialism, is that socialism, or the period of building socialism into which we have entered, is characterized by the abolition of the individual for the sake of the state. I will not try to refute this argument solely on theoretical grounds but rather to establish the facts as they exist in Cuba and then add comments of a general nature. Let me begin by broadly sketching the history of our revolutionary struggle before and after the taking of power.

The parallel government strategy
One of the key maneuvers was the statement by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, recognizing opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia as the winner of the elections, openly contradicting the official result given by the only competent body in the matter, the National Electoral Council (CNE), which proclaimed Maduro the winner.
Faced with what appeared to be a repeat of the interim government of former lawmaker Juan Guaidó (who proclaimed himself president in 2019 and was endorsed by Washington, the European Union, and neighboring Latin American countries), Maduro launched a torpedo at the imperial waterline: if the U.S. does not recognize his victory, the energy contracts awarded to U.S. companies will be handed over to companies from the BRICS group, which Venezuela is hoping to join soon.
They need to throw out the Gene Sharp playbook.
