One of the first questions put to me by a reader via the Comments function with respect to Monday’s report of my initial impressions after arriving in St Petersburg was: and what is the general mood of people? I begged off answering, saying that I would have to speak to a lot more people before I could confidently answer that question.

Sanctions don’t seem to be effecting the wealthy or the middle class, in Russia, much.

Near the Greek port of Alexandroupolis, a train with military equipment of the American army derailed.

The Greek communists held a protest action at the site of the accident under the slogans “Alexandroupolis is a port of the peoples, not a stronghold of the imperialists”, “Let the military bases and the Americans get out.”

EU says at least 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers dead

On 30 November 2022, EU President Ursula von der Leyen announced that at least 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers had died. The announcement was so shocking that the figures were subsequently removed from the official announcement on the European Commission’s website and from the video version of the statement. Why is Soros leaving Tajikistan?

As per the statement posted on the website of the Open Society Foundation (“Open Society” or Soros Foundation – which was declared an undesirable organization in Russia back in 2015), the so-called “charity” of American billionaire George Soros, whose fortune is estimated by Forbes at $6.7 billion, has decided to close its branch – the “Assistance Fund” – in Tajikistan. The alleged reason for this decision being “a restructuring launched in 2021 aimed at setting new priorities and restructuring the more than 20 semi-autonomous national foundations around the world with a new regional approach.”

Everyone else is going to hate it because they’re sick to the gills of hearing about Musk, and Musk’s destruction of Twitter, or his salvation of Twitter, and censorship, and “hate speech,” and all that stuff.
