Sharp wind from the Bundestag

People who try to report on the war in Ukraine from the Russian side or who try to provide humanitarian aid to those in need in the new Russian territories are excluded from public discourse. Freedom of speech and freedom of the press are becoming hollow concepts. In the future, anyone who says something that looks like a “playing down of Russian war crimes” can be punished for “incitement of the people” according to a legislative amendment passed by the Bundestag in summary proceedings on Thursday. Fact Check: NO Evidence Two ‘Far-Right Websites’ Attributed to Pelosi Attack Suspect David DePape Were Faked + My Two Cents

Does the fact that two of David DePape’s webpages were not archived in the Internet Wayback Machine until after the attack on Paul Pelosi prove they were “fabricated” after the suspect’s arrest to smear conservatives? No, that’s not true: The webpages attributed to DePape were so small and obscure that they would likely not be archived in that database without someone submitting them, according to a spokesman for Archive.org. The pages were archived hours after police named David DePape as the person arrested for attacking House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband. Archive.org “patrons” manually used the “save this now” feature, the spokesman told Lead Stories, which saved a copy in case the original was taken down. The Wayback Machine doesn’t automatically archive every page on the web.

Fact Check: NO Evidence Two ‘Far-Right Websites’ Attributed to Pelosi Attack Suspect David DePape Were Faked

I haven’t really been following this story, except for a couple of internet searches earlier. I did see The Gateway Pundit claim and felt that it was stupid. Anyway, the Democrats are blaming MAGA supporters and MAGA supporters are blaming Antifa (because he supposedly lived in yellow bus in front of a house with a BLM sign—and a rainbow flag). He claims to have been radicalized by GamerGate in a couple of blog posts. He blogged about many things that really can’t be contributed to any one political ideology. At least one post that I recall seeing was a Jimmy Dore video and a couple were from Steve Turley and Mike Lindell. I saw at least one claim that he belonged to the Green Party, at one time. The man was homeless, with mental health issues, and an alleged drug addiction. I’m curious about his motive, (haven’t found one, yet, and may never since both sides want to control the narrative). Was it really because of a so-called political ideology or was he upset that Pelosi’s (or anyone in Congress, for that matter) done nothing for homelessness, etc?! If Congress did more to solve poverty, and homelessness, (instead of giving the Military Industrial Complex handouts) maybe they wouldn’t have to worry about “domestic extremism”?! Instead, they’ll just offer bandages, like gun control—maybe hammer control (joking)—rather than look into reasons why people become disgruntled with the ruling class?! Don’t forget to vote Blue because fascism or vote Red because lawlessness or something?! #SSDD 🙄

Chris Hedges “The Greatest Evil is War”

Chris Hedges returned to The Sanctuary for Independent Media in Troy NY on October 21, 2022 to speak on the subject of his latest book, titled “The Greatest Evil is War” (Seven Stories Press). This unflinching indictment of the horror and obscenity of war draws from experience and interviews for a book that looks at the hidden costs of war, what it does to individuals, families, communities, and nations.

I’m surprised that he agrees with sanctions, even though they only hurt civilians?!

NATO Wants To Place Nuclear Missiles On Finland’s Russian Border — Finland Says Yes

According to Newsweek, on October 26th, “Finland Will Allow NATO to Place Nuclear Weapons on Border With Russia”. They cite Finnish media reports. Allegedly, a condition that NATO had placed on Finland to join NATO was to allow America’s nuclear missiles to be positioned on Finland’s Russian border, which is closer to Moscow than any other except Ukraine’s. Whereas Ukraine’s would be 5 minutes from blitz-nuking Moscow so as to preemptively decapitate Russia’s retaliatory command, Finland’s would be 7 minutes — only around 120 seconds longer for Russia to be able to launch its retaliatory strikes. Finland now is to vote on the bill joining NATO, on that basis (i.e., to become America’s spearhead to defeat Russia in WW III). Obviously (assuming that NATO had, indeed, given Finland’s leaders to believe that saying yes to this would increase NATO’s likelihood of expediting Finland’s application to join), NATO is set upon checkmating Russia into capitulation if Finland does join.

Voices: J. D. Vance wouldn’t know what to say to a real Appalachian like me. Ohio deserves better

I sometimes joke that J.D. Vance is my evil twin. Born a year and a half before me, Vance and I are both the grandchildren of Appalachian out-migrants. He is the first in his family to obtain a university degree, and so am I. He grew up about 30 miles from where I grew up in the decaying Rust Belt cities between Dayton and Cincinnati. Jackson, from where his grandmother hailed and from whence J.D. claims his Appalachian identity, is 45 miles from my grandmother’s home town — and where I spent much of my childhood and graduated high school — in Hyden.
