Lenin: Defence of Neutrality

Defence of Neutrality

Acceptance of the proposition that the present war is imperialist, i.e., a war between two big freebooters for world domination and plunder, does not yet prove that we should reject defence of the Swiss fatherland. We, Swiss, are defending our neutrality; we have stationed troops on our boundaries for the express purpose of avoiding participation in this robber war!

This is the argument of the social-patriots, the Grütlians, both within the Socialist Party and outside it.

The Web of State-Backed Extremism: From COINTELPRO to MKY

In July 2024, U.S. authorities indicted Michail Chkhikvishvili, the alleged new leader of Maniac Murder Cult (MKY), on four counts related to soliciting hate crimes and planning mass violence in New York City. Chkhikvishvili, 21, was arrested in Chișinău, Moldova, and extradited to the United States on May 22, 2025. The following day, he made his first appearance in Federal District Court before Magistrate Judge Peggy Kuo. Operating under the alias “Commander Butcher,” he was accused of coordinating with an undercover law enforcement officer to orchestrate a large-scale attack. Following his arrest, the militant accelerationist group Injekt Division claimed he had previously lived in Tbilisi, Georgia, and had ties to the Georgian military.

A Permanent Arms Economy

The background to the article reprinted here is the “long boom” of western capitalism during the 1950s and 1960s. It first appeared in International Socialism journal in Spring 1967. On the surface it appeared that the capitalist system had stabilised itself, had broken out of the boom-slump cycle and was now able to offer the workers of Western Europe and North America a steady increase in living standards.

This was a frustrating world for Marxists, who found themselves subject to two temptations. One was to surrender to the claims poured out by the system’s apologists that capitalism had solved its problems and that the path of gradual reform offered a sure road to socialism. The other was to deny the obvious signs of stability and prosperity and assert that capitalism was on the verge of imminent, catastrophic collapse. If these temptations were to be avoided, and Marx’s analysis of capitalism’s contradictions was to hold, then the long boom must be explained.

Who Really Provoked the Ukraine War? Was It Russia?

Ukrainian “president” Vladimir Zelensky lied when he called Russia the aggressor. Since 2014 his military forces have been shelling their own civilians in the east of Ukraine, killing at least 14,000 people and arresting thousands more with the SBU, the Ukrainian secret police, a de facto Gestapo-like terror organization.
