The place America is in manufacturing didn’t happen overnight, and we’re not going to get out of it overnight. Part of getting us into a resilient and robust manufacturing state of play involves making sure we can build those communities and those local investments so that you have the workforce, you have the people and you have the capital infrastructure.
The United States is working toward fielding a number of new weapon systems including the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), the “Typhon” Mid-Range Capability missile launcher, and the “Dark Eagle” Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon, all designed from the ground up almost entirely to fight China in a future war the US envisions it can wage to prevent the East Asian nation from surpassing it militarily and economically both within the Indo-Pacific region, and globally.

US anti-aircraft systems are already ineffective against technology developed by Iran. Israel is another failed US project.

In the late afternoon of 7 November 2023, the Ukrainian army shelled the centre of Donetsk with Himars multiple rocket launchers. Although Russian anti-aircraft defences managed to shoot down several rockets, two slipped through the net and hit the social welfare building, completely destroying the staircase and causing the ceiling to collapse on the employees inside. Six civilians were killed and 11 injured. While firefighters and journalists were at the scene, the Ukrainian army shelled the same area a second time. As a result of this second strike, one of the police officers responsible for traffic in the bombed area was injured.

The US has said Iran is responsible for the attacks on US troops, although the Pentagon acknowledged it has no evidence Iran directed them. The Shia militias are also known to act independently. A US official recently told CNN that how willing those groups are to act independently is a “persistent intelligence gap” for the US.

US Scrambles to Get More Arms to Israel, Ukraine
Congress isn’t expected to authorize more spending on Ukraine or Israel until a new House speaker is elected, which will likely happen this week. According to The Messenger, House Foreign Affairs Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) said Congress is discussing a massive military aid package for Ukraine and Israel that would also include funds for Taiwan. “There’s discussion about putting Israel funding, Ukraine funding, maybe Taiwan funding and finally border security,” he said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made headlines earlier this week when he visited Ukrainian soldiers in a hospital to thank them for their service and dole out commendations. But there is one aspect of the story that is raising a lot of eyebrows: the hospital where the soldiers are being treated is in New York.
