Replacing capitalism – not with socialism, but with democracy?

Leading left economists Jason Hickel and Yanis Varoufakis jointly wrote an article for the British newspaper, the Guardian this week. It was headlined as “We can move beyond the capitalist model and save the climate – here are the first three steps.” Jason Hickel is professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a visiting senior fellow at LSE. Yanis Varoufakis is the leader of MeRA25, a former finance minister and author of Technofeudalism: What Killed Capitalism.

The Petty‑Bourgeois Theory of Soft Power

A petty bourgeois driven to frenzy by the horrors of capitalism is a social phenomenon which, like anarchism, is characteristic of all capitalist countries. Resistance, Pre‑Packaged

Sweater Girl is back with another lesson. This time she’s teaching Gene Sharp tactics. I really need to research her background. Yes, Trump leans into authoritarian theatrics, but the people amplifying these tactics aren’t fighting for socialism, and the funding streams behind them aren’t exactly grassroots. Legion Pirates Reconnaissance Group

Commando Pirates is a unit of Revanche International as part of the Revanche Tactical group.

The group was officially formed in 2023 by French volunteers with affiliations to the Centuria movement in Ukraine. The fighters had ideological motivations similar to the movement, and found themselves initially in the ranks of the Revanche Tactical Group.

At some point in late 2023, the members of the group transferred to the ranks of the 3rd Assault Brigade, where they served and fought with the brigade during the fall of Avdiivka in early 2024 to help evacuate Ukrainian forces from the city. It was formerly known as the Brennus Platoon.

In June 2025, the unit officially joined Revanche International as the Reconnaissance Group “Aggressive” as a squad-sized formation.

In late September 2025, the unit was renamed Commando Pirates.
