The Sickness of the American Left and the Path to Recovery

By Danny Haiphong – Sep 2, 2022

Leftists in the United States are suffering from a propaganda-induced delirium. Revolutionary discipline can get us through the winter storm.

The Sickness of the American Left and the Path to Recovery

I’m pretty sure that he’s criticizing the PatSocs, such as Haz from Infrared, Jackson Hinkle, and Caleb Maupin (who’s embroiled in his own controversy). To me, Patriotic Socialism is just a gimmick to get Trump supporters to embrace their movement that they claim is Socialist (it’s not, it’s more like right-wing populism).

Sri Lanka ‘Uprising’ Is Not What You Think. Sri Lankan Activist Explains The Politics

Source: Jamarl Thomas on YouTube.

In this interview, the Sri Lankan Activist mentions the Frontline Socialist Party were planning on storming the Sri Lankan Parliament and that Victoria Nuland had previously visited Sri Lanka. WSWS says (as does Wikipedia) that they were founded by a breakaway faction of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna and refers to them as part of the pseudo-left. Premakumar Gunaratnam (a dual citizen of Sri Lanka and Australia), AKA Kumar Gunaratnam/Noel Mudalige/Kumar Mahathaya/Kumara Mahathaya was the leader.

I suggest that people be skeptical about these protests in Asia and Latin America. I’ve suspected that the US would take advantage of the civil unrest, from the sanctions that they have imposed on Russia, to overthrow opposing governments. Whether this was done intentionally, or they’ve co-opted these movements, I’m unsure.

Speaker at DSA panel: “War creates the possibility for a push of socialists ideas” + “Democratic Socialism” in the Service of U.S. Imperialism

At a recent panel event hosted by the Democratic Socialists of America’s (DSA) chapter for the state of Maine, Vladyslav Starodubstev, a leader of the Ukrainian pseudo-left Sotsialnyi Rukh (Social Movement), put forward the chilling perspective that “the war creates the possibility for a push of socialist ideas in Ukraine.” The panelists and DSA moderators stated their agreement with the speaker and demanded the US government deploy more tanks, missiles, and howitzers to wage war against Russia, regardless of the risk of nuclear holocaust.

“Democratic Socialism” in the Service of U.S. Imperialism:

In “The Real Heritage of Harrington’s DSA,” we show where the reformist “democratic socialism” of 2018 came from, and what it actually stands for. Today’s Democratic Socialists of America hails the “tradition” of Michael Harrington and Norman Thomas, long-time leaders of the Socialist Party (SP) that gave rise to what is now the DSA. In that article (see p. x), we explain that this tradition has often, and accurately, been described as “State Department socialism.” Those unfamiliar with the left may think the term is a polemical excess or empty epithet. Not at all. In fact, intimate ties to the Department of State are only the beginning of the intertwining of the official social democrats with the agencies of U.S. imperialism. Activists who want to devote themselves to genuine socialism need to know what’s what. So here’s the story

Far-Right Intellectuals Are Offering Workers a Rotten Deal

Far-right intellectuals like Steve Bannon claim to speak for a working class put upon by out-of-touch liberal elites. But their anti-modernist, hierarchical vision of the world doesn’t offer workers what they really need: more money in their pockets, and more power at the workplace.

The Semantics of “Socialism” in a Changing World

The Semantics of “Socialism” in a Changing World

Around the world, the terms “Socialism” and “Communism” suddenly took on new meanings, once again. Socialism referred to patriotic, anti-Soviet political organizations that sought to get elected, and gradually transition toward a more egalitarian society, one step at a time. Communism referred to the parties aligned with the Soviet Union that adopted Marxism-Leninism as their ideology and ultimately sought to seize power in a revolutionary situation. However, the Communist Parties were also always critical of “ultra-leftism” and calls for violence, and the Soviet Union urged them to not be parties of extremism, isolated from the masses of people.

Explaining Democratic Socialism To A Republican

Democratic Socialism consists of a democratic form of government with a mix of socialism and capitalism. I proceeded to explain to her the actual meaning of the terms “democracy” and “socialism”.

Democracy is a form of government in which all citizens take part. It is government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Socialism is where we all put our resources together and work for the common good of us all and not just for our own benefit. In this sense, we are sharing the wealth within society.

Why Bernie Was Always Democrats’ 2020 Frontrunner

Over the long and tedious year preceding the first primary contest, Bernie was systematically downplayed in the various ‘power rankings.’

Interesting:

Bernie once even belonged to a radical left-wing splinter party in Vermont that advocated the abolition of all restrictions on the Second Amendment!
