I am writing this trying to contain the rage and indignation I feel at the reactions of the Western left and society in general about the Russian counter-attack against Ukraine.

– Russian makes incremental gains in the Donbass region;
– Ukraine’s power grid continues to degrade under Russian missile and drone strikes;
– Ukraine continues denying responsibility for missile strike in Poland;
– US claims NASAMS air defense systems performed at 100% effectiveness, provide no numbers or proof of this claim;
– There are not enough NASAMS arriving in Ukraine over the next several years to protect Ukraine from further Russian missile and drone salvos;
– Ukraine has more or less abandoned Kherson city;
– US DoD admits Ukraine cannot achieve its main objective of expelling Russia;
– Failure to achieve Ukraine’s objective while continuing to fight and lose men and equipment equates to demilitarization;

– Front lines have stabilized as Ukraine’s offensive momentum grinds into positional fighting;
– Russian forces are preparing the defense of Kherson and likely only to give up the city if something goes wrong;
– Ukrainian and Russian forces were until recently both overstretched. Russia is mobilizing 300,000 additional troops, Ukraine cannot;
– US arms shipments become more and more meager in both quantity and quality.

For several days the threat of the use of a dirty bomb or the destruction of the Kakhovka dam by Ukraine has caused an extremely dangerous rise in tension. By dint of letting Kyiv do whatever it wants, even the worst war crimes and terrorist acts, the West encourages Ukraine to continue playing with fire, at the risk of causing a disaster that would go beyond the country’s borders.
