Content warning, canceling, de-platforming, denying access: The fate of Sy Hersh’s Democracy Now! interview on YouTube is the latest indication of how much rougher press suppression is in this new media era.

The Supreme Court Could Destroy Everything Good About The Internet
Next Week, The Supreme Court Could Destroy Everything Good About The Internet
This is the thing that so many haters of Section 230 don’t understand. They seem to think that getting rid of it will somehow benefit speech. But, it will not. It will benefit government officials attempting to control speech.

How Twisted Sister Outclassed Congress
Rock & roll was under attack during the mid-’80s. As the music got more theatrical and provocative and MTV gave it a national platform, America’s youth screamed for more. It was obvious that pop music was experiencing a revolution it hadn’t seen since Elvis swiveled his hips on The Ed Sullivan Show. Enter Dee Snider and his band, Twisted Sister.

Truth’s boots

It’s one of my thousands of favourite Pratchett quotes and, for a change, it is a quote by a baddie, who sincerely believes that the above makes lies more powerful than the truth. He is, of course, eventually proven wrong, much to his astonishment, and justice triumphs.

GOP Stops Pretending It Ever Actually Cared About ‘Antitrust Reform’
To be clear, despite the press narrative to the contrary, I don’t think either party is particularly serious about antitrust reform. Jordan has been more focused on free-speech issues, including big tech’s perceived liberal bias.
“We’re all united in wanting to stop the censorship of conservatives and the suppression of free speech,” Jordan said in an interview. “That’s going to be a focus of the full committee work.”
Funny, that’s not what Massie told Breitbert. 🤷🏼♀️

If you haven’t been living under a rock for the past couple of years, you will be familiar with the concept of the anti-“woke” culture war the Republican Party grows and farms for its own purposes. This isn’t to say there aren’t real cultural conflicts we need to work out as a country, but that doesn’t change the simple fact that much of what you hear about in the press is specifically cultivated by one party or another to generate headlines and outrage for the purposes of votes and campaign contributions.
