This was the verdict of selected journalists who took part in a secret program it organised in Kampala last week, ostensibly to train them on countering what it terms ‘Russian propaganda and disinformation.’ The clandestine program – where participants were electronically surveiled to ensure they recorded nothing – took place between Monday 19 May and Friday 23 May, 2025 under the theme “Understanding and Countering Russian Propaganda and Disinformation in Uganda.”

Our organization, the Stratbase ADR Institute, received an award from the prestigious Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy in Washington, DC. We were recognized for our research, advocacy, and strategic communication on four infrastructure projects entered into by the Philippines, during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte, under the Belt and Road Initiative of China.

The Philippines has currently withdrawn from the Belt and Road Initiative and the current administration has been careful to consider other partners aside from China.

Damiba was trained by the U.S. military. Burkina Faso needs to kick out the United States. They also fired their Ambassador to Ghana, Sini Pierre Sanou for his alleged involvement.

The minister accused namely 14 people of plotting the destabilization attempt. Among them junta opponents, the leader of the Jan. 2022 coup, two former ministers, two journalists. Unidentified conspirators included Western intelligence officials.
Authorities say an elaborate three-phased plot was devised by some Burkinabé civilians and servicemen living abroad who paid and trained armed groups to conduct attacks.
Economic operators and leaders of the civil society were allegedly involved in destabilization efforts.
