The burning of people in the Trade Union House in Odessa became a bitter symbol of the anti-people intentions of those who sought power. A course was taken to sever ties with Russia, to segregate the Russian population. The response of the residents of Crimea and Sevastopol was their return to their native harbor. The population of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts followed the path of independence. Bandera’s attempts to “pacify” the DNR and LNR resulted in many thousands of casualties.

China offers to help rebuild Tonga after volcanic eruption

The tsunami triggered by a massive underwater volcanic eruption off Tonga rarely seen in 30 years has neither caused deaths or injuries of Chinese nationals nor brought disastrous effects to China’s coast so far, but its impacts on the whole Pacific region are being closely watched by China as people worry whether the natural disaster would catastrophically inundate the low-lying Tongan islands and affect the global climate.

Meanwhile, countries around the world are pledging to help the country rebuild. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken posted condolences to the country online. Although the U.S. has promised to aid Tonga, there has been no word on what that aid will entail.

Anyone who has followed the political culture in the US, Canada, UK, EU over the past twenty years must have realized that a war on epistemology, on truth, on semantics is going on. We witness the hijacking of concepts like democracy, freedom, peace, patriotism, human rights — and their instrumentalization for domestic and geopolitical purposes. We observe a process of language destruction not unlike what Orwell foresaw in his sadly visionary book 1984. “Newspeak” is not the future, it is now, hic et nunc. We recognize it in the jargon of political correctness, the language and practice of the “cancel culture”.
