MACHESNEY PARK — Soldiers and their families and friends filled the Harlem High School gymnasium on Thursday for a ceremony to recognize their service and sacrifice ahead of an overseas deployment that could last about a year.

This isn’t far from where I grew up. I couldn’t find any videos of it, on YouTube while it was still functional. I found it interesting that concerts were held there. One of the many bands that performed there, Cheap Trick, was founded in Rockford, Illinois. I went to high school with one of their stepsisters. I just found out that I currently live where one of the band members was born.
