Security cooperation between Guyana and the US appears to deepen

U.S. Marine Corps Major General Julie Nethercot’s, U.S. Southern Command Strategy, Policy, and Plans Director has visited Guyana. Her visit to Guyana from May 6th to May 8th possibly  or probably signals a significant step forward in our nation’s defence and security partnership with the United States, some observers believe. This visit follows closely on the heels of Major General Evan Pettus’ – also of the  U.S. Southern Command – engagement in February, probably highlighting a deepening commitment of the United States to bolstering Guyana’s security capabilities.

She maybe the highest ranking American official but most Americans do not even know her name. However, she is visiting Sri Lanka twice in one year & that should mean something. Why is she visiting Sri Lanka is however more important. She first visited Sri Lanka days before riots started resulted in the resignation of the former President. Naturally, all eyes are fixed on what is likely to emerge after her forthcoming visit. Over the years, there is no doubt the US has created local “agents” covering all spectrums of society.

Army launches coup in Burkina Faso amid mass protests against France

The ousted junta leader, [Paul-Henri Sandaogo] Damiba, was widely seen as too closely linked to France. Late Saturday, there were protests outside the French embassy in Ouagadougou and the French Institute in the city of Bobo-Dioulasso. Video on social media showed residents with lit torches outside the French embassy, and other images showed part of the compound ablaze. The crowds also vandalised the French Institute.

[Paul-Henri Sandaogo] Damiba is a highly trained soldier, thanks in no small part to the U.S. military, which has a long record of training soldiers in Africa who go on to stage coups. In this interview, the Sri Lankan Activist mentions the Frontline Socialist Party were planning on storming the Sri Lankan Parliament and that Victoria Nuland had previously visited Sri Lanka. WSWS says (as does Wikipedia) that they were founded by a breakaway faction of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna and refers to them as part of the pseudo-left. Premakumar Gunaratnam (a dual citizen of Sri Lanka and Australia), AKA Kumar Gunaratnam/Noel Mudalige/Kumar Mahathaya/Kumara Mahathaya was the leader.

I suggest that people be skeptical about these protests in Asia and Latin America. I’ve suspected that the US would take advantage of the civil unrest, from the sanctions that they have imposed on Russia, to overthrow opposing governments. Whether this was done intentionally, or they’ve co-opted these movements, I’m unsure.

While the US public was forced to grovel for months for a $600 direct payment, the same piece of legislation pumps billions of dollars into “democracy programs” — US government code for regime-change operations via civil society NGOs — and foreign military assistance. The measly $600 survival checks pale in comparison to the massive foreign spending on regime change and titanic allocations to prop up US-friendly authoritarian militaries.
