Dave DeCamp on the Foreign Policy of a Biden Administration

With Joe Biden apparently poised to be America’s next president, Scott talks to Dave DeCamp about some possible foreign policy changes under the new administration. To begin with, DeCamp worries that Biden will use a recent uptick in violence as an excuse to keep American troops in Afghanistan indefinitely, basically the strategy he advocated as Vice President. On Israel, DeCamp says that Biden was known as one of the strongest zionists in Washington until Trump showed up, and so we can expect very little positive change on that front either. Finally, Scott and DeCamp discuss the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh and its implications for the rest of the world.

Pompeo finds himself under investigation after speaking at Republican convention from Israel

House Democrats have launched an official investigation into the speech. Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas), chair of the subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said Pompeo’s remarks “may violate the Hatch Act, government-wide regulations implementing that Act, and State Department policies.” Castro demanded an extensive list of documents and receipts from the secretary’s deputy by September 10.

The Hatch Act, which dates back to 1939, prohibits all employees of the executive branch – except the president and the vice president – from engaging in certain forms of political activity. Amendments passed in 1993 have removed the ban on political campaigns, however.

Israeli court awards Jerusalem church properties to settlers | The Electronic Intifada
