Sen. Cramer to Ukraine: Don’t fear a GOP-led Congress
Sen. KEVIN CRAMER (R-N.D.) doesn’t want Ukraine to worry that a Republican-led Congress means less support for its war against Russia.
The Senate Armed Services Committee member said the “blank check” comment by his colleague, KEVIN McCARTHY (R-Calif.), the presumptive speaker of the House should Republicans prevail in the midterms, was taken out of context.

July, huh?!

“The letter was drafted several months ago, but unfortunately was released by staff without vetting. As Chair of the Caucus, I accept responsibility for this. Because of the timing, our message is being conflated by some as being equivalent to the recent statement by Republican Leader McCarthy threatening an end to aid to Ukraine if Republicans take over. The proximity of these statements created the unfortunate appearance that Democrats, who have strongly and unanimously supported and voted for every package of military, strategic, and economic assistance to the Ukrainian people, are somehow aligned with Republicans who seek to pull the plug on American support for President Zelensky and the Ukrainian forces.
Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Statement on Ukraine Letter

Saw someone comment, on this video, about how the letter couldn’t have been written in July—or something like that (I didn’t screenshot it, unfortunately, and can’t find it now). I totally missed the part, in the letter, about the annexations. Referenda were September 23-27. Letter was released October 24. That’s only one month (Go figure, the first one to notice was a NAFO troll)! Haven’t been able to find anyone that pointed this out in any articles, just Tweets. On another note, Kevin McCarthy didn’t say that he was going to end military aid! They’re taking him out of context!

Biden Orders Progressives to Denounce Themselves on Ukraine
Congressional “progressives” are cowards and charlatans. They may actually believe in some of what they claim to espouse but at the end of the day they are more opportunistic than anything else. They have carved out a niche for themselves in certain parts of the country where voters are in fact progressive and want to see their political ideology put into practice. But good luck ever seeing that when the leader of the Congressional Progressive Caucus makes a fool of herself and her members when they didn’t have the courage of their very slim convictions.
According to Ryan Grim, Kevin McCarthy didn’t say that he would stop funding Ukraine. He was basically referring to his voters.
House Progressives Swiftly Walk Back Letter Asking Biden to Pursue Russia Diplomacy
ON MONDAY MORNING, 30 members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus sent a letter to the White House that attempted to gingerly open a conversation about a potential diplomatic end to Russia’s war on Ukraine. The door was slammed shut by the evening, met with enough fury to elicit a “clarification” in the form of a statement from caucus Chair Pramila Jayapal.

Lawmakers Looking to Pass $50 Billion in New Ukraine Aid Before Next Congress
NBC News reported Thursday that the bipartisan idea under consideration would be to pass a bill for Ukraine aid that could cover an entire year during the lame-duck period. The bill is expected to be worth roughly $50 billion, which would bring total US spending on the war to over $115 billion.
