Zelensky only banned the Moscow Patriarchate! The US has a long history of interfering in the Orthodox Church!
Zelensky did not ban all of the Eastern Orthodox Churches! He only banned the Moscow Patriarchate. There is more than one Eastern Orthodox Church in Ukraine. In 2018, there was a ‘schism’—or autocephaly, depending on who you ask—because of US meddling! The US has a long history of interfering in the Orthodox Church!

The Ecumenical Patriarchate, through the Greek community in the United States, has strong connections to the US Democratic Party, and to the US government in general. Patriarch Athenagoras, most responsible for the uncanonical and blasphemous “lifting of the anathemas” against the Papal religion, was elected Patriarch of Constantinople due to CIA* influence and in January of 1949 was flown on the plane of then President, Harry Truman, to assume his role at Istanbul.

By Alexander Nepogodin, RT, 8/10/22
Back in early 1991, few thought the disappearance of the Soviet Union from the political map was likely. The results of a huge national referendum held in March indicated as much. Ukraine’s vote exceeded 70%, and public discussion of the joint future for all the socialist republics mainly focused on various forms of a federation.

Why The War In Ukraine May Soon Resume
As a commentator at Turcopolier remarked:
If the US is not careful it is going to give the Russians another opportunity to show to the World their military prowess, the flexibility of their Military District system allowing multi front operation and their unfailing support for an ally. As well as potentially letting the Russians show to Europe that they have nothing to fear, if they stop at 30 miles or so and basically go back home. All whilst the US demonstrates the opposite, but then reinforcing DC may trump the World.
