In Finland, on October 3, the Nosto ATM network, the only one in the country that worked with the Chinese payment system, stopped accepting UnionPay cards, as RIA Novosti reported with reference to Risto Lepo, a representative of Nokas CMS, which owns ATMs. He explained the decision by the increased demand for cash from the Russians.

2 Turkish banks suspend Russian Mir payments after US sanctions: report

Turkish Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati at the time called concerns over the letter “meaningless.” In April, he said Russian tourists — critical to Turkey’s beleaguered economy — could easily make payments since the Mir system was growing among Turkey’s banks.

After the two private lenders suspended Mir, it is still operated by state lenders Halkbank (HALKB.IS), Vakıfbank (VAKBN.IS) and Ziraat.

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s visit to Myanmar on August 3 shows that the relationship is assuming a strategic character. The Foreign Ministry in a press release on August 2 highlighted that the relationship is “one of the priorities of foreign policy in the Asia–Pacific region, an important factor in ensuring peace, stability and sustainable development.”
