Inaccurate: “Unrestricted Warfare”

I found this while looking up “lawfare and tactical aids,” while browsing through the RAND paper, yesterday. It must be mandatory reading for military personnel, right?

The Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS), once an open-source intelligence division of the CIA’s Directorate of Science & Technology, “translated” the book. Eventually, the FBIS was incorporated into the Open Source Enterprise, which is a division of the Directorate of Digital Innovation at CIA.

A brief, weird history of brainwashing

On an early spring day in 1959, Edward Hunter testified before a US Senate subcommittee investigating “the effect of Red China Communes on the United States.” It was the kind of opportunity he relished. A war correspondent who had spent considerable time in Asia, Hunter had achieved brief media stardom in 1951 after his book Brain-Washing in Red China introduced a new concept to the American public: a supposedly scientific system for changing people’s minds, even making them love things they once hated.

But Hunter wasn’t just a reporter, objectively chronicling conditions in China. As he told the assembled senators, he was also an anticommunist activist who served as a propagandist for the OSS, or Office of Strategic Services — something that was considered normal and patriotic at the time. His reporting blurred the line between fact and political mythology.

The U.S. can shoot down balloons, call names, and claim that China has “police stations” in New York City. It cannot stop the decline of its own making as it engages in war propaganda theater.

The Bankman-Frieds’ family foundation in February also committed $5 million to ProPublica, a nonprofit news organization, to support reporting focused on pandemic preparedness and biosecurity, including one-third of the grant delivered upfront. The funding has subsidized several staff and articles — including a high-profile story with Vanity Fair about the possibility that covid leaked from a Chinese laboratory, which frustrated some of the Bankman-Frieds’ pandemic advisers who pointed to criticism of its translations of Mandarin Chinese. ProPublica was told last week that the remaining two-thirds of the grant is being paused, a spokesperson confirmed.

New ‘Tank Man’ Takes Down the CCP…

Oct 16, 2022 – Last week someone put a banner in prominent location in Beijing and lit some gasoline to attract police and firefighters. Is that a student protest inspired by protests in Hong Kong? Or rather a protest planned by the same people who also instructed and paid some of the students in Hong Kong? Or is it an CPC-internal intrigue even? Hear my analysis and let me know what you think.

Who is behind that protest banner in Beijing? via Harald in China

…or maybe not, but the MSM hoped it would.
