GOP won’t bird-dog defense budget with these hawks at the helm
Speaker McCarthy may have promised to cut defense spending, but his early actions suggest that he has little interest in rocking the boat.

On MSNBC and “Authoritarianism”
MSNBC opinion columnist Zeesham Aleem just penned the latest in what’s become a parade of hit pieces from mainstream outlets directed at me and other independent journalists. Even by the low standards of the genre, “How the populist left has become vulnerable to the populist right” is a humorous standout. It argues that after I spent a month detailing how the FBI, DHS, DOD, CIA and other agencies built a system for mass delivery of censorship requests to firms like Twitter and Facebook, I helped fuel a subculture that “could funnel people from leftism to authoritarianism.”

BEFORE THE TWITTER FILES: Alt Media Warned of Twitter Links to FBI CIA Deep State
Manila Chan originally discussed the links between Twitter and FBI, CIA, NSA, deep state back in June 2022. Originally aired on a “certain” international media outlet. First shirked off as “Russian disinformation” – the now massive trove called the Twitter Files brought to light by Matt Taibbi and Bari Weiss confirmed Manila’s reporting from 6 months prior.

Thursday Night Purge: Elon Musk’s Twitter Bans Tons Of High Profile Journalists
Well. Just after finishing that last post about Twitter banning the official Mastodon account on Twitter for tweeting about the ElonJet tracking account existing on Mastodon, it seems that whatever brakes or controls were in place at the new “free speech absolutist” Twitter have really come off. In quick succession, a whole bunch of high profile reporter accounts were suspended, including Aaron Rupar (who famously covers and quotes videos of high profile politicians), Drew Harwell from the Washington Post, Ryan Mac from the NY Times, Donie Sullivan from CNN, and Matt Binder from Mashable.

Why Is AP Still Protecting the Source Behind its False Russia-Bombed-Poland Story?
AP’s source claimed Russian missiles hit Poland. This seemed calculated to set off a frenzy and trigger NATO articles to create a wider war. Why won’t the AP tell us who the falsifying source is?

Draconian tactics are the only defense Israel has left

Several seemingly disparate events in the past week come together to once again demonstrate the use of raw power by Israel and its supporters to force silence about their oppression of Palestinians from the river to the sea.

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes: “It’s Tom Fitton who ended up putting Donald Trump in arguably the most acute legal peril he has ever been in”
Now, I should note here, Tom Fitton is not a lawyer. He’s just a dude with some big money right-wing donors, I guess. But he’s been giving Donald Trump a lot of legal advice that the ex-president is actually listening to. Since as early as February, Fitton has reportedly been calling Trump, telling him it was a mistake to give the records from Mar-a-Lago to the National Archives, that his team should have never let the Archives quote, “strong-arm” him into returning them. Fitton said the records belonged to Trump, citing a 2012 court case involving his organization that he said gave the former president authority to do what he wanted with records from his own term in office. He suggested to Trump that if the Archives came back, he should not give up any additional records. Trump, quote, “began obsessing over Fitton’s arguments, complaining to aides about the 15 boxes that were handed over” and “even asked Fitton at one point to brief his attorneys.” I’m sure that they loved that one. As one person close to the ex-president put it, quote, “The moment Tom got in the boss’ ear, it was downhill from there.” You know, it’s like the Overstock guy or the Pillow guy.
Wikipedia says that he only has a Bachelor’s Degree in English. 🤦🏼♀️
