Facebook and Washington vs Internet Sovereignty

It was as early as 2011 when Facebook along with the US State Department began weaponizing this control over a social media platform deeply entrenched in the information spaces of nations around the world and particularly in the Arab World.

The New York Times in a 2011 article titled, “US Groups Helped Nurture Arab Uprisings,” would admit that the US government had funded many of the opposition groups years in advance to the Arab Spring, training and equipping them to overthrow their respective governments.

These [security] clearances would not be possessed by a genuine whistleblower organization exposing real abuses inside the US government, but instead an organization posing as such to mitigate the damage real whistleblowers might cause if their information was brought to the press and released to the public before being sanitized, censored, and spun in a politically expedient manner.

Myanmar’s New Parallel Government Announced: Led by Racists Involved in Rohingya Abuses

The US-backed opposition in Myanmar has declared a “National Unity Government,” a parallel government to the existing government of Myanmar. It is expected that the US will pressure nations around the globe to recognize it as the legitimate government and begin providing financial and military support to its cause of taking over the country.

However, the man announcing the creation of this parallel government – Min Ko Naing of Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy party – is an inveterate racist who proposed deporting the nation’s Rohingya ethnic minority and repeatedly referred to them as illegal immigrants and terrorists.

This is not a “pro-democracy” opposition and it merely uses talk of “human rights” as camouflage – just as other extremist groups the US has attempted to put into power around the globe from Libya to Syria, Ukraine to Venezuela, and Hong Kong to Thailand.

US Officially Declares Myanmar Situation a ‘Coup,’ Cutting Aid to Government

The Biden Administration officially declared on Tuesday that the seizure of power in Myanmar by the country’s military was a “coup d’etat,” triggering aid cuts and a review of all foreign aid to Myanmar.

US officials said the aid restrictions only apply to Myanmar’s government. The vast majority of US aid to Myanmar, an estimated $108.65 million requested for 2021, goes to organizations inside the country, and will not be affected.
