Legion Pirates Reconnaissance Group

Commando Pirates is a unit of Revanche International as part of the Revanche Tactical group.

The group was officially formed in 2023 by French volunteers with affiliations to the Centuria movement in Ukraine. The fighters had ideological motivations similar to the movement, and found themselves initially in the ranks of the Revanche Tactical Group.

At some point in late 2023, the members of the group transferred to the ranks of the 3rd Assault Brigade, where they served and fought with the brigade during the fall of Avdiivka in early 2024 to help evacuate Ukrainian forces from the city. It was formerly known as the Brennus Platoon.

In June 2025, the unit officially joined Revanche International as the Reconnaissance Group “Aggressive” as a squad-sized formation.

In late September 2025, the unit was renamed Commando Pirates.

Azov vs. Azov

Two weeks ago, masked men attacked Major Andriy Korynevych, a recruitment officer from the Azov Brigade in the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU), and beat him in broad daylight near his home in Ivano-Frankivsk, western Ukraine. About ten days later, he dropped a bombshell: police identified his attackers and their accomplices, all of them from the Azov movement’s 3rd Assault Brigade (AB3). Furthermore, Korynevych suggested that the assault took place on the orders of Andriy Biletsky, the leader of the Azov movement, who he said is “closely connected” to the attackers. NGU Azovites are evidently furious—their unit published a statement denouncing the alleged assailants—and many AB3 Azovites are no less enraged at their counterparts’ betrayal, for going to the police and airing their dirty laundry.
