DENVER (AP) — A year and a half before he was arrested in the Colorado Springs gay nightclub shooting that left five people dead, Anderson Lee Aldrich allegedly threatened his mother with a homemade bomb, forcing neighbors in surrounding homes to evacuate while the bomb squad and crisis negotiators talked him into surrendering.

Real-looking toy guns are now illegal across New York
Starting today, toy guns sold across New York must meet the same strict criteria as in New York City, which requires them to be brightly colored or clear. The goal of a new state law that takes effect Monday is to prevent people from using imitation firearms that could be perceived as real.

Germany, Freedom of Speech: With house searches against Facebook likes
Can a Like be punishable? The district court of Meiningen affirmed this question for the first time and even justified house searches. The questionable verdict thus allows law enforcement agencies to use bazookas to shoot at sparrows – and pushes the boundaries of freedom of expression. A comment.

DEA’s Rainbow Fentanyl Moral Panic Is Making Broadcasters, Politicians Stupider Than They Already Are
Some news outlets engage in journalism. Others just engage in hype. The latter tend to repeat press releases verbatim, only ask for statements from law enforcement when law enforcement screws up, and otherwise cater to the “if it bleeds, it leads” maxim that has allowed mass media to portray America as a criminal dystopia despite crime levels in most of the nation still bottom-feeding on historical lows.

Elon Musk’s First Move Is To Fire The Person Most Responsible For Twitter’s Strong Free Speech Stance

And, that wasn’t just in the US. Twitter was among the most vocal companies pushing back on foreign governments and their demands for information or their demands to censor people. Just as one example, in India, the government demanded that Twitter remove users critical of the government, and Twitter fought back, even as the government threatened to jail Twitter employees. And when India passed a law to give the government more control over internet censorship, Twitter sued the Indian government. In fact, this lawsuit was something that Elon Musk complained about, suggesting that he’s way more willing to go along with government demands. Indeed, Musk also praised the EU’s new Digital Services Act, which is a highly censorial bill that demands all sorts of content takedowns and other censorial actions. Twitter, under [Vijaya] Gadde’s leadership, was one of the most vocal companies in calling out how the Digital Services Act could harm speech online.

Former Pakistan PM barred from elections
Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, has been banned from running in elections and becoming a member of parliament for the next five years. The decision by the election commission was rejected by his party, which has called for street protests in response to what they say is an act of political bias.

MSM was all over the cost of living protests but nothing about the Anti-NATO protests. Videos have emerged of police repression in Paris (at which protest, I’m unsure). Meanwhile, in the US, the Poor People’s Campaign, and allies, held multiple demonstrations to get out the vote (which were mainly covered by local news).
New ‘Tank Man’ Takes Down the CCP…
Oct 16, 2022 – Last week someone put a banner in prominent location in Beijing and lit some gasoline to attract police and firefighters. Is that a student protest inspired by protests in Hong Kong? Or rather a protest planned by the same people who also instructed and paid some of the students in Hong Kong? Or is it an CPC-internal intrigue even? Hear my analysis and let me know what you think.

…or maybe not, but the MSM hoped it would.
