Pushkov: China is running out of patience with US bullying

There is an impression that the U.S. misunderstands what it is doing with its attempts to intimidate China, Russian Senator Alexey Pushkov said on July 18 in his Telegram channel.

That is how Pushkov commented Washington’s sudden preoccupation with China’s compliance with the Law of the Sea Convention (1982) despite the fact that the U.S. Senate refused to ratify it in 2012 as the document would limit America’s rights and interests in an unacceptable way.

The Senator believes that an intimidation tactic inherent in the US policy has its efficiency limits and is far from being successful in all the cases. “How far are they ready to go? Are they ready for a real clash with China? Or are they acting with a belief that Beijing will retreat under their pressure?”

In this regard, Pushkov reminded the situation around the North Korea, when its leader Kim Jong-un threatened to carry out a nuclear strike against Guam in response to the dispatch of US warships to the country’s shores. Then the USA tempered its determination to force the North Korea to proceed to a nuclear disarmament. “China is certainly not the North Korea. It is a much more responsible state, but there are some limits beyond which it will not tolerate US bullying. It seems that Washington misunderstands this. Recently, it has been failing to properly understand anything.”

It also confirms the insidious role of Ukraine’s intelligence agency.
