The CIA didn’t just infiltrate governments; it infiltrated the internet itself. For over a decade, Langley operated a sprawling network of covert websites that served as global spy terminals disguised as harmless blogs, news hubs, and fan pages.
My brother was a Star Wars fan through and through—so much so that Yoda became his nickname. While I’ve only truly loved the original trilogy, we still shared a deep appreciation for the saga, making Star Wars a special part of our connection. It even became a tradition for us to go to the movies on Christmas when the newer films premiered. Beyond Star Wars, we also bonded over other franchises like Transformers (though we never got around to seeing Bumblebee) and Fast & Furious. The only Star Wars book I own is Star Wars Rogue One – Junior Novel by Matt Forbeck (from our hometown), which might have ended up in his collection by accident. I had wanted to get it autographed for him but never got the chance before he passed away.
I agree with Carl. I don’t avoid fluoride 100%, only in my drinking water and medications. Coincidentally, I’ve had serious side effects from fluoride-containing medications (Levofloxacin, Fluoxetine).
I’m not even subscribed to Darksnovia, but this showed up in my recommendations. I don’t know enough about Star Trek or Gundam to comment. I’m more interested in the Star Wars comparison, anyway.
In the Star Wars universe, the Rebel insurgency conducts covert operations on Imperial garrison worlds, utilizing a stateless strategy in conjunction with wolfpack-guerrilla warfare against the Imperial fleet throughout the galaxy. Capital ships are portrayed as having no place in the Rebellion, as they are described as expensive to build, maintain, and to keep fully crewed. The Rebellion is portrayed as far too limited in both manpower and resources to justify putting so much of both into a giant target. The Galactic Empire, on the other hand, is portrayed as capable of always fielding greater numbers and greater firepower. Being able to hit high-valued targets and get out is therefore depicted as being much more important to the Empire. While the Empire labels all dissenters and rebels as extremists and terrorists in Imperial propaganda, the Alliance is depicted and portrayed in various Star Wars media as a group of resilient freedom fighters, based on tolerance, self-empowerment, and hope for a better future using insurgency weapons and tactics.
From stormtroopers to Imperial officers’ uniforms and even Darth Vader’s helmet, which resembles those worn by the Wehrmacht during WWII, the analogies between Nazi Germany and the Galactic Empire are not exactly subtle.
The gradual rise of Hitler from German chancellor to Nazi dictator is further mirrored in the rise of Darth Sidious, or Sheev Palpatine, from chancellor to world’s most horrific-looking emperor.
Previously on “Ukes, Kooks & Spooks,” we peeked at the far-right underbelly of M-TAC, Ukraine’s “largest and most powerful brand of clothing and equipment in the tactical and military industry,” that became central to Volodymyr Zelensky’s “de facto uniform” after Russia invaded Ukraine. But “Zelensky branded by fascists?” just scratched the surface.
