German magazine Der Spiegel names Trump ‘Loser of the Year’

In an article titled “Der Verlierer des Jahres,” which translates as “The Loser of the Year,” the publication’s Washington bureau chief Roland Nelles and Berlin-based correspondent Ralf Neukirch described Trump as “a man who … was never concerned with the common good, but always with one thing – himself.”

“Nothing is normal under Trump,” the article added. “He refuses to admit defeat. Instead, he speaks of massive electoral fraud, although there is no evidence for it. The whole thing is not surprising. Trump’s presidency ends as it began. Without decency and without dignity.”

In comparison to other countries, there was never a lockdown in Sweden, but rather recommendations to follow. While many of us started working from home, we could still have a social life. In an interview with FRANCE 24, Swedish chief epidemiologist Dr. Anders Tegnell, the man in charge of Sweden’s strategy to fight Covid-19, defends his country’s specific approach.

While the vast majority of countries around the world imposed strict lockdowns on their citizens and often made face masks compulsory in enclosed public spaces, Sweden refused to lock down its population and instead chose to rely on its citizens’ sense of responsibility and civic duty.

Today, with low mortality and a falling number of Covid-19 cases, Dr. Anders Tegnell, the architect of this strategy, hails the policy and says he has “some confidence” for the future.
