U.S. To Refill SPR This Year If Advantageous

Granholm said on Wednesday that the United States couldn’t repurchase crude oil for the SPR and sell crude oil out of the SPR at the same time. The DoE is actively selling crude oil from the SPR as part of a congressional mandate that will see another 26 million barrels leave the reserve between now and the end of June, with 2 million barrels released over the last two weeks.

After the recent releases from the Strategic Petroleum Reserves, inventories in the nation’s reserves have sunk to 369.6 million barrels—down from 638 million barrels at the beginning of 2021, and the lowest amount of crude oil held in the stockpiles since November 1983.

CORE staff complained that they were forced to work 18-hour days, six days a week, without the opportunity to take breaks. Responding to the staff concerns, Penn excoriated the employees, writing in an email that “in every cell of my body is a vitriol for the way your actions reflect so harmfully upon your brothers and sisters in arms”. Penn suggested that employees leave their work instead of complaining about conditions.[16] In October 2021, the National Labor Relations Board issued a complaint that Penn and CORE violated federal labor law. According to the charge, Penn “impliedly threatened” his employees with reprisals.[17] A 2021 California lawsuit sought civil damages, claiming that CORE failed o pay overtime and minimum wges, provide rest periods, reimburse for business expenses, provide detailed wage statements, and timely pay employees. [18]

In 2022, a former CORE worker who provided support during COVID relief efforts in Georgia sued CORE for unpaid wages. According to the complaint, CORE deliberately misclassified staff as contractors to avoid paying overtime. CORE’s contracts require binding arbitration, which prevents a collective action by multiple employees and keeps the proceedings private.

The deliberate attack at an operating medical facility and targeted killing of civilians is “grave war crime by the Kiev regime and its western colleagues,” Russian diplomats said. “A lack of reaction from the USA and other NATO countries to this horrible trampling of international humanitarian law by Kiev is another proof of their direct involvement in the conflict and crimes which are being committed.”

In so doing, they are demonstrating a double standards policy. “The West, together with Kiev, got hysterical in connection with the provocative fake “crimes” of the Russian army in Bucha and Irpen which had never really happened, but keep turning a blind eye to outrages and barbaric actions by the Nazi Kiev regime which kills civilians with American, British, French and German weapons. They dash around with the ideas to set up an illegitimate “tribunal” against Russia, but say nothing about the trial of the Ukrainian leadership and military for their obvious daily crimes. The clumsy tactic is an apparent attempt to divert attention from one’s responsibility for their perpetration.
