On the collapse of the Bashar Assad regime earlier this month in the face of rapid anti-regime advances, Fidan said Türkiye “paved the way for this to happen in a bloodless manner” by continuing to pursue talks with “two key actors,” referring to Russia and Iran.

Suspicions arise as Sweden ‘shuns’ formal joint investigation of Nord Stream leak

Journalist Ali Abunimah commented that Sweden’s refusal to take part in such a joint exercise suggests that its administration knows Moscow did not sabotage its own pipeline.

He wrote in a post on Twitter: “Could there be clearer confirmation they know it wasn’t Russia?”

TRT Reporter Ali Mustafa also quested whether this meant Sweden had information which suggested the US was behind the Nord Stream destruction.
