Ted Snider joined Scott on Antiwar Radio this week to talk about some concerning developments in Eastern Europe. They start with the tensions on the Polish-Belarus border where forces have been building up since Wagner forces moved in after the Prigozhin ordeal. Snider goes over what’s happening and what it might mean. They then talk about the Neo-Nazi compound in Maine whose leader claims to be training forces to go fight in Ukraine. They finish with some of the disheartening language we’re hearing about the backchannel talks between U.S. and Russian officials.

This past February, anti-war organizers had a modest gathering on the steps of the Lincoln memorial to protest against militarism. The Rage Against the War Machine rally as it was called was unique of its kind, as figures from across the political spectrum put aside ideological differences to come together to speak against empire and war. About three thousand people turned out, which is admittedly small compared to antiwar protests in the past. It wasn’t the pictures you see during the Vietnam War protests where bodies are compacted shoulder to shoulder around the entire permitter of the Capitol Reflecting Pool stretching all the way back to the Lincoln monument. Perhaps there wasn’t the same type of publicly or word of mouth enthusiasm behind anti-war events as there once was.

17-06-2023: The current danger of a World War fought with nuclear weapons cannot be understated. A nuclear war may well mean the end of human civilisation on planet Earth. There is one side which is responsible for this potentially catastrophic situation, and that is the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) alliance led by the ruling regimes of the United States of America (US) and its allies in the European Union (EU) and other satellite states such as Canada and Australia. The NATO led proxy war on Russia via Ukraine is being constantly escalated, even despite the manifest impossibility of any substantial victory over the Russian Federation, a military superpower. In fact, the main reason why the world is not now engulfed in a horrific global war is the seemingly limitless restraint shown by Russian President Vladimir Putin and his administration in the face of outrageously provocative geopolitical, economic and military broadsides set up to sabotage or even overthrow Moscow.
Stop NATO’s Drive to World War!

Now it’s official. Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Patrushev said that the radioactive cloud that arose after the explosion of an ammunition depot in Khmelnitsky (where a large number of depleted uranium tank shells were destroyed) is approaching Western Europe. An increase in the radiation level has been recorded in Poland. As the British said there. You shouldn’t worry about it. Our military must be understood before the blow got acquainted with the wind rose and are now watching the consequences. The main threat from such munitions is the serious increase in cancer in the medium term, as confirmed in Yugoslavia and Iraq. Now in Ukraine and Europe

Last week, news emerged that NATO intends to open a liaison office in Tokyo, Japan next year. The office would be NATO’s first in the Asia-Pacific region and represents the increasing role of the organisation in preparation for a US-led war against China. Both Tokyo and NATO have confirmed the plans.

What can China do against NATO’s foray into Asia?
So what can China do to respond to this attempt at ‘alliance encirclement’ against it? First, it can strengthen its ties with Russia and aim to create a deeper balance of power in the Asia-Pacific. Secondly, it can revitalize old alliances and strengthen its ties with North Korea as a military partner. After all, the DPRK is still obligated by the 1961 treaty of mutual assistance to come to China’s aid in a war and can be used to contain Japan and South Korea. Thirdly, it can look to build new military partnerships with regional countries who feel similarly threatened by US expansionism; for example, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar. While the rest of ASEAN are likely to stay neutral, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam (excluding the US-aligned Philippines), China should work to improve its relationships with these countries in order to prevent the US from trying to ‘force’ them to choose.
