Biden Regime Faces Backlash Over Funding for LGBT Advocacy in Zimbabwe

LGBT Rights in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe has long maintained a stance of opposition to LGBT rights. Under its legal framework, homosexuality is criminalised, and the constitution explicitly prohibits same-sex marriage. Despite this, local advocacy groups such as the Gays and Lesbians Association of Zimbabwe (GALZ) continue to push for greater acceptance and awareness of LGBT issues.

GALZ has faced significant resistance from both the government and segments of Zimbabwean society, where cultural and religious values often clash with the organisation’s efforts. However, the group remains steadfast in its mission to advocate for the rights of LGBT individuals.

GALZ has received grants from the Dutch NGO Hivos (funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Atlantic Philanthropies (via The Other Foundation), the Ford Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, the Elton John AIDS Foundation, Gilead Sciences, the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, the Stephen Lewis Foundation, Wellcome Trust (via The Love Alliance), and OutRight International. OutRight is supported by Google, the Henry M. Jackson Foundation (created by U.S. Congress), Microsoft, the Oak Foundation, Open Society Foundations, PepsiCo, Proctor & Gamble, Twitter, Visa Inc, Wellspring Philanthropic Fund, the World Bank, the German and Canadian governments, etc.

Last time that I heard about the US promoting LGBTQ+ rights (pinkwashing), in another country, was when Luna Oil suspected that the US was sponsoring a color revolution in Vietnam. I remember a couple of years ago, the US Embassy in Tlsabi, and Open Society Foundations, were pushing gay pride parades in the country of Georgia (the majority of the people are Orthodox Christian). It’s been documented, in the past, that the USAID has partnered with OSF on pushing cultural issues.
